About the Photographer
Hello! My name is Karene and I am an amateur photographer living in Northern California. I grew up on the California coast with a love of the outdoors. On a trip to Washington in 2000, I fell in love with the Dahlia and Rose gardens at Point Defiance Park and tried to capture that beauty with my camera. The results pleased me tremendously. I never realized how intricate flowers are when captured close up.
Intense color has always grabbed my attention, but I discovered that flowers also possess a beauty of symmetry, shape, and texture that is truly amazing. I became hooked and started really looking at flowers with a new perspective. My search for flowers has taken me to many public and private gardens in California, Washington, and Victoria Canada. I enjoy playing with lighting, backgrounds, and unique compositions to capture the flower's beauty. My favorite subjects are flowers, beautiful skies, and sea life.
